Rev. Hal Carmichael: The end?

This is not how I imagined the end to come. May God have mercy on all of our souls.

Neal Capie: Mass hysteria

One of the men who went out to look for their families, Bill Abodeu, returned yesterday with tales of a demon ambush. Needless to say, his story and his urging that everyone leave Chyubaer for their own safety is creating quite a panic. To appease the townspeople, I told them that I contacted the governor, and the national guard should be arriving within a day.

Curt Wilson: My contribution

Since the mayor won't ask for help, I'm going to do it myself. Well, my parents and I, since I can't drive yet. We're leaving town and telling everyone we meet about what's been happening here. I don't know if they'll believe us, but they've got to at least send help to look for the guys who are missing.

Stacy Hubbard: The mayor is losing it

We had a town meeting yesterday, and everyone wanted the mayor to ask for help from outside the town, but he didn't want to do it. I don't know why he wouldn't want help. How could it hurt? Everyone in Chyubaer is scared, including me. Why won't he ask someone to help us? Because he doesn't want other people to think he can't manage his own town? That's so pathetic!

Helen Troutman: Time to call in reinforcements

The men who went to look for the demons' cave have been gone for a week. Surely, even if they couldn't find the cave, they'd be back by now. I have this horrible feeling that something happened to them. We should call for help from another town or the state government or something. We're in over our heads here.

Bill Abodeu: It's all a jumble

How many days has it been since we left town? How much of what happened was real or a bad dream? We never found the cave, but the demons found us. I ran off and hid as soon as I saw one of them, but the others stayed and fought. I heard screaming, but I was too scared to stay and look. I just kept running. I don't know what happened to them, whether any of them are still alive. I have to get back to Chyubaer to warn the others. They aren't safe.

Harold Dale: Still no word

The group that went looking for their missing families has been gone for more than three days now. According to the girls' depiction of the cave, it wasn't supposed to be that far from town. Should I have gone with them? I would have if it were my wife and kids that were missing, but they're here and they need me here. I hope nothing's happened to them.

Curt Wilson: Lucky, or left out?

I'm the only person my age that hasn't been affected by what's happening with the demons and the disappearances. Gary was abducted, then returned, and now who knows how he's doing. Carol and Stacy had identical dreams about the demons and their cave, and they were able to help the group going to look for the missing people. But nothing's happened to me yet. Why was I spared? I should feel fortunate that nothing bad has happened to me, but I wonder if there's some purpose behind it or just the luck of the draw.

Carol Lampley: A feeling of helplessness

Stacy and I were talking at school about how eerie it is around town now. The school was emptier than usual, especially the younger grades, because some of the kids in those classes were abducted. Others didn't come to school because their parents were afraid and kept them home. I feel like there's something we should be doing, but I don't know what. I just hope our map to the caves helped the others find their families.

Neal Capie: Reverting back to barbaric times

Recent events remind me of more primitive times. A group of armed men are going out looking for the people taken by the demons. It's like a lynch mob. Or, like in the past, with warring tribes, when the men did battle, killing other men and taking their opponents' women and children prisoner. What will happen if the men who went off are killed? Will more men follow? And what if they are successful? Do they think the demons won't come back?

Dan Wachter: Call for action

It looks like I'm not the only one who lost someone in his family. Several folks here are in the same situation, and the odd thing is that it was only women and children who were taken. About twenty of us have decided to go look for our missing loved ones. The Lampley girl and Hubbard girl told us they had dreams about a cave where the demon went, but they couldn't find it. At this point, we're not dismissing any theories, so we'll start looking for a cave nearby. Neither girl wanted to come with us, but they sketched a map based on their dreams. We'll be armed, of course, because we don't know what we'll find.

Rev. Hal Carmichael: The work of Satan?

The snow finally stopped, so yesterday was the first day that we could all walk around and talk to each other again. What we discovered is that several of townsfolks have reported missing family members. Some of them reported having dreams of demons. Could this be related to what happened on Halloween? Could the forces of hell have come upon our world? If this is really the work of Satan, what are we to do other than pray to the Lord for help?

Bill Abodeu: My nightmare

I didn't believe in the demon that some people said they saw on Halloween, but last night, I had a dream that a group of demons entered our house and surrounded us. When I woke up, I couldn't find Melinda anywhere. All of her things look like they're still here, and her car is in the garage, but she's not in the house. I found that our bedroom window was cracked open. Someone couldn't have come in during the night and kidnapped her, could they?

Harold Dale: Business is slow

All this snow has been bad for business. Nobody wants to go out when there's so much snow, so nobody's coming in to my store. If it keeps up, I'll tell everyone not to bother coming to work. I can manage it myself if it's just the rare straggler who comes in. The only people out and about are the folks trying to shovel snow off the streets, but now there are huge mounds of snow on the sides of the road too.
